Let us quit the apophatic mysticism of the God gone missing, of the <i>gods in retirement<\/i>. We know no less than H\u00f6lderlin and all the delirious patients in the waiting-room of the Messiah that the gods who have retired may fancy coming back. No, the creator never chanced upon the creation and this is why the creation never stops creating. An open universe is a creating universe. And this means that even the quarks create. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This impulse of creation, Chaos as a force of differentiation, Eros as <i>clinamen<\/i>, the flux of the apeiron, the creating vortex \u2013 the meteoric time that binds together thermodynamics and alchemy, cosmology and magic, this practical extremization of knowledge, is the passion of the philosophical fantastic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bruno\u2019s definition of the Magician \u2013 the <em>Magus<\/em> \u2013 precedes and seemingly preconditions Marx\u2019s famous definition of philosophy as transformative praxis (<i>Theses on Feuerbach<\/i>): <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2018So as it is used by and among philosophers, \u2018magician\u2019 then means a wise man who has the power to act.\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">(<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Giordano Bruno, <i>Cause, Principle and Unity, And Essays on Magic<\/i>, trans.
