Ou bien ne fait-il que recommencer ? Et comment le peut-il ou le fait-il, aujourd\u2019hui, \u00ab \u00e0 nu \u00bb ?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions n\u2019est pas une affaire historique ; cela engage un questionnement sur la <em>n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 <\/em>de l\u2019art et il y va, pour nous, de son destin. R\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions est devenu un imp\u00e9ratif \u00e9thique lorsque l\u2019art \u2014 l\u2019art qui persiste \u2014 est plut\u00f4t une chose rare, parfois m\u00eame imperceptible, dans la confusion g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9e sur le \u00ab contemporain \u00bb. Face au r\u00e8gne du \u00ab n\u2019importe quoi \u00bb (ou m\u00eame du \u00ab tout se vaut \u00bb) dans l\u2019hyperproduction actuelle, il ne s\u2019agit pas de r\u00e9tablir des r\u00e8gles pr\u00e9alables \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre. Et face \u00e0 l\u2019impossibilit\u00e9 d\u2019instituer un art religieux, il ne s\u2019agit pas non plus d\u2019y opposer une \u00ab religion de l\u2019art \u00bb (au sens o\u00f9 l\u2019entendaient les premiers romantiques, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire aussi, tout un pan de la modernit\u00e9).
